GoodAh!!! is a well-known and solidly patronized food chain in the country that started back in the 1980’s when it popularized traditional hot and quick-served Filipino snacks like goto, arroz caldo, dinuguan, and pares, including acronym-named ensemble dishes consisting of fried rice base (Sinangag abbreviated to “si”) and fried eggs (itlog, coined as “log”) and then combined with meat dishes like tapa (became “tapsilog”), tocino (became “tocilog”), and longanisa (which became “longsilog”). This iconic food chain also helped popularize catchy phrases like “pagkaing good for every all” and “open 25 hours.”
GoodAh!!! is also a FREE WIFI Zone

Year of the Water Dragon!
Kung Hei Fat Choi!

And Kiong Hee Huat Tsai to all Tsinoys out there!

Friday, January 20, 2012

Kung Hei Fat Choi! In three days, we will celebrate the Chinese New Year, Year of the Water Dragon. I am no Chinese blood but I like and love how the Chinese celebrates their New Year – Festive, Colorful, Noisy and Happy – this is to entice an abundant, prosperous and full of energy and positive life. Thus, I also celebrate Chinese New Year to attract good vibes and bring some good luck as the year 2012 goes by!
Aside from the grand celebration of Lion and Dragon Dance, I also enjoy Chinese food! And please continue reading to see what I have discovered at SM City North Edsa Sky GardenChinese Street Food Festival! The Chinese Street Food Festival has started last January 17 and will end on January 23, 2012. During this duration, you have an opportunity to explore and taste some authentic Chinese Street Food from the five participating Chinese food outlet such as Govby’s Food, Little Fellas, My Red Basket, Siomai House and last but not the least, the Chicken Deli (which is more of authentic Filipino food)!

Here are some of the foods that I enjoyed eating during my food adventure at Sky Garden, SM City North Edsa.

Chicken Deli. The first food outlet that we’ve encountered since my blogger friends and I started our foodie adventure from The Block (also part of SM City North Edsa) going to SM North City Annex. They have the best chicken inasal in Bacolod and they’d decided to bring the Bacolod cuisine here in Manila, so that Manileño can also taste the Special Batchoy and Chicken Inasal. Furthermore, there are chicken inasal and barbecue meals that are available for as low as P45.00.
Chicken Deli's stall

Govby’s Food and Little Fellas. Here were the foods that we’ve eaten – Hongkong Noodles with Shark’s fin Siomai, Shabu-shabu and Siopao.
Govby's Food stall
Hongkong Noodles Preparation: 1. Fry the noodles. 2. Add "Togue" (optional) 3. Add Sesame Oil
4. Add Soy Sauce 5. Mix, wait for atleast 10-15 seconds and afterwards put in the container
6. Choose your toppings - Siomai, Shark's Fin, etc. (I chose Shark's Fin)
7. Add Sauce to taste - Teriyaki, Peanut, and I forgot the other 2 sauces.
8. If you wanted a little bit spicy, add chili sauce! That's it!

mini siopai in bola-bola

The Red Basket and Siomai House.  A kind of typical Chinese food outlet with lots of Pork & Shrimp Siomai, Beef Siomai, Marcon and Siopao
my red basket
siomai house
A gluttony day of Chinese Street Foods! But wait there’s more; Tikoy and charm are popular when Chinese New Year is coming, thus, SM City North Edsa is way more generous because for every P500 worth of purchase you will be entitled to have a FREE CHARM BRACELET (promo runs from January 22-23, 2012) and for every P1000 worth of purchase you’ll have a FREE TIKOY (promo runs on January 23, 2012)! If I were you, I’ll just drop by at SM City North Edsa and do a little shopping!
As their theme song goes, “ Here at SM, ♪ ♪ we got it all for you ♪ ♪!”  They really had everything we needed and we wanted! Moreover, a very innovative corporation that always creates something that full of surprises! ツ

Thanks Azrael of Azrael's Merryland for the invite.

Look, who’s the new endorser of San Marino Corned Tuna, one of my favorite female celebrity – no other than Ms. Kris Aquino.
KRIS AQUINO’S BIG ANNOUNCEMENT THIS 2012: “THE SEARCH IS OVER”
Her talk shows, movies and telenovelas have endeared Kris Aquino to the hearts of Filipinos both here and abroad. After all, having dubbed “the Queen of all Media” means that whatever Kris says or does, Filipinos will always take notice.

Now, she is starting the year with this announcement: “I finally found true love.”

Her romantic trials and tribulations are among the most well-documented of all Filipino celebrities so this pronouncement can come as a shock to those who have followed her relationship’s ups and downs. The popular host also revealed that this relationship will definitely be beneficial for her, as she knows it will have a long-term positive effect on her life.

“My search is over,” she boldly declares. “I found true love in San Marino.”

Maybe it is not the kind of love story usually associated with Kris, but it’s definitely a relationship that also involves the heart.

“It didn’t take me a hundred years to find true love. I realized that I am surrounded by it,” explains Kris.

The Queen of All Media adds that true love is not limited to romantic relationships, as it can also be found in the things that are closest to one’s heart—in this case, it is about her family and how she wants to spend more time with them by living a full and healthy life.

“I want to love more so I want to be healthy. I want to live long, especially for my kids,” says Kris. “It is with this that I am particular with the food I eat. I want to have a healthy heart.”

When asked why she shifted to San Marino Corned Tuna, Kris says, “I believe in San Marino and what it stands for – good health beyond appearance. I find it deeply satisfying. I won’t settle for anything less than San Marino.”

“What’s inside is truly more essential, especially when it comes to the food you eat. I like the taste of corned beef, but I also want something that will satisfy more of my nutritional needs. This is why I love San Marino Corned Tuna—it has the delicious taste of corned beef and the health benefits of tuna,” Kris says of her newfound true love.

“For me, it’s simply the best! I join the millions of Filipinos who choose the country’s number one corned tuna.” – source from Manila Bulletin

Kris already found her true love! How about you guys, have you found yours?

Last December, Cadbury Dairy Milk excited mall-goers with a device that combined two things Filipinos love: Chocolate and Videoke. It was set during the most celebrated time of the year, Christmas. People were given a chance to have a moment of pure joy amidst the last-minute holiday shopping rush.

Dubbed “Sing for Joy,” the machine was set up in different malls within Metro Manila and passersby were invited to share the joy with one or more friends. All they had to do was pick a Christmas carol from the song list, and perform it to the best of their abilities. The machine captured the participants on video so they could watch themselves as they sang.
After their performances, the machine dispensed free, creamy Cadbury Dairy Milk Bars to each participant. Brand endorser and model Georgina Wilson joined the fun as she sang carols with fellow chocolate-lovers at the Trinoma Mall in Quezon City.

Here is one of the videos highlights:
All videos were recorded so that they could also be played back for a panel of judges from Kraft Foods (Philippines), Inc. and its advertising agency Ace Saatchi & Saatchi. The top 10 videos will be posted on the Cadbury Dairy Milk Philippines Facebook Page (http://facebook.com/cadburyph), and the one group with the highest score will win P40,000 in cash. Visit the Cadbury Dairy Milk Facebook page to see the videos and pictures from the “Sing for Joy” activities.

Judging will be held on the week of January 9, 2012 and the winner will be announced the following week.

I am such a sloth when it comes to food. I always forgot that I am on a diet because of my not-so-flat tummy and my lil’ sis is having fun with my belly. I need to get rid these unwanted fats inside my precious body and since I am not getting any younger, my metabolism was already not the same when I was in college. *sigh*

Going back to the topic, I am such a foodie junkie. I love to try different foods and different cuisine across the world (well, I am planning of going to India, I want to feel the culture and the real Indian foods, hopefully my saving permits me to go this year! ). And aside from that, the homey ambiance and some sort of restaurant that has a personal touch is really an awesome restaurant that will keep me going back to the restaurant and that’s what I felt during my first encounter during the Segunda Mano Press Conferencewith Bb. Joyce Bernal held at the Teacup Café. One of the foods served during the press con was pasta – Carbonara! I liked how creamy and tasteful their carbonara.

So when Janese of LakwatseraMom invited us to revisit the café, I said a big YES! Teacup Café located along Mother Ignacia Street, Quezon City, is truly a baby restaurant because they are just operating for a month. As per Mrs. Boots Maristela, the owner of Teacup Café, the restaurant is an Extension of their home since all of the family members are enjoying cooking and also loves to eat. Every time they go out of town or out of the country they will always look for the good foods to eat to make the vacation worthy though. So, I may say that, To Travel is to Explore Food. Teacup Café is the first food business venture of the family and some of the cuisines are personally cooked by the owner.

Beef Salpicao. Beef tenderloin sautéed in olive oil and lots of garlic. One of the best sellers and cooked with no other than Mrs. Boots husband. The beef is tender and the whole thing is so flavorful. I could even eat it without rice.

Meaty Lasagna. A meaty, saucy goodness in between layers of al dente pasta topped with rich bechamel sauce. Gooooodness! I am a pasta fanatic and this one was superb! It was so delish and meaty. Plus, it doesn’t have a “nakakaumay/nakakasawa” factor.
Teacup Café:Chicken Cordon Bleu

Chicken Cordon Bleu. A tasty roll of chicken breast fillet with ham and cheese, topped with creamy gravy. I know I will be biased with this one because it has a cheese! But then every rule has an exemption and this Chicken Cordong Bleu attest to that. The chicken meat alone was so tasteful that I don’t even notice the cheese inside.

One of my New Year resolutions for Bubblyfluffy is to make a video blog while cooking or post a recipe of food that I cooked. A lazy, boring Saturday afternoon earlier which made me decided to cook for our dinner and I ended up cooking a Pork Adobo (Adobong Baboy). One of the all-time Filipino dish and easy to cook food, aside from that, adobo has a longer shelf life when kept in the fridge. So guys, here’s the first food recipe that I cooked. Watch out for more recipes, as I started to learn cooking.

Adobong Baboy (Pork Adobo)
Pork Adobo

1/2 kilo pork, cut into cubes
       1/2 cup water

       1/3 cup soy sauce
3-4 bay leaves (dahon ng laurel)
       Ground pepper and Salt

Procedures:
1.       On a hot pan over medium heat, add oil.
2.       Sauté garlic and pork cubes.
3.       Sprinkle some salt and pepper to taste.
4.       Stir occasionally until half-cooked, about 10 -15 minutes.
5.       Add water, vinegar, soy sauce, and bay leaf.
6.       Turn down the heat.
7.       Simmer for about 20-30 minutes or until the pork is done or tender and the sauce is almost dried up.
